Uganda Youth Baseball Mission

Baseball is opening new doors for children and teens across Uganda. Through year-round leagues, clinics, and training, the Uganda Baseball At Heart program gives girls and boys a safe place to play, grow in confidence, and dream beyond the limits of poverty and violence.

With support from Samaritan’s Feet and partners on the ground, hundreds of young athletes are gaining access to quality gear, caring coaches, and opportunities they might never have had otherwise.

About the Uganda Baseball At Heart Program

The Uganda Baseball program serves girls and boys ages 7–17 (with older players continuing on to national team opportunities) in communities across Uganda, including Kampala, Jinja, Lugazi, Luwero, Soroti, Lira, Kiryandongo, and Arua.

Many of these athletes come from communities facing high poverty rates, limited access to education, and few safe recreational spaces. Sports programs are often underfunded or non-existent, and most families cannot afford proper gear. The Uganda Baseball initiative steps into this gap by providing:

  • Year-round training and leagues

  • Safe fields and structured activities

  • Local coaches who mentor and encourage players

  • Access to quality baseball gear so every child can fully participate

Today, more than 900+ players and 26 coaches are part of this growing effort.

How Your Help Supports

Gear Donations

Baseball gear is difficult and expensive to access locally. Your donated items help outfit entire teams so they can train and compete throughout the year. Examples of needed items include:

  • New or gently used baseball cleats (youth and adult sizes)

  • Gloves (all positions, youth and adult)

  • Sports Bras (youth – adult)

  • Baseballs

  • Bats

  • Batting tees

  • Helmets

  • Catcher’s gear (masks, chest protectors, shin guards)

  • Uniforms (jerseys, pants, belts, socks)

These items are distributed to players across multiple sites so every athlete has what they need to safely participate.

If you’d like to donate baseball gear, you can send items directly to our warehouse at:

Samaritan’s Feet International
4808 Chesapeake Drive
Charlotte, NC 28216

Please clearly label all boxes “UGANDA BASEBALL” so our warehouse team can route your donation correctly.

Financial Gifts

Financial donations help sustain and grow the program by covering key ongoing costs like:

  • Field rentals and field maintenance

  • Shipping fees to get donated items to Uganda

  • Transportation for teams to games, leagues, and tournaments

  • Umpire stipends and basic officials’ costs

  • Food and refreshments for players during leagues and training camps

  • Modest stipends for coaches to help them stay committed and consistent

Your gift makes it possible to run leagues, clinics, and tournaments throughout the year so players can keep learning, growing, and competing.
