Part Time Senior Accountant

General Overview:

Samaritan’s Feet International is looking for a talented, motivated individual to join our team as a Part-Time Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will lead all day-to-day finance operations with a budget of over $6 million, including functional responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, budget creation and annual audit leadership. The Senior Accountant will ensure that Samaritan’s Feet has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits. The Senior Accountant will work closely with program leaders to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures and to provide timely financial reporting of results against budget.

This is a 20-hour/week position.

 

Responsibilities:

Finance and Accounting Leadership

  • Oversees all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains internal controls and safeguards accurate receipt and recording of revenue, costs, and program budgets in QuickBooks and Bloomerang CRM.
  • Manages organizational cash flow including effective forecasting by working in partnership with the department managers to anticipate changes in revenue and expense against budget.
  • Leads the reporting of all aged accounts payable, providing staff members with necessary documentation of invoicing and pledge data.
  • Leads all audit activity.
  • Consistently analyzes financial data and presents financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicates monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitors progress and changes keeping senior leadership aware of Samaritan’s Feet financial status.
  • Assists CAO with annual budgeting and planning process; administers and reviews all financial plans and compares actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
  • Supports the CAO in preparation for all board of directors’ meetings and finance committee meetings, including flagging issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
  • Oversees all required grants accounting; ensures that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collates necessary financial reports for all government, corporate, and foundation grants.
  • Monitors and tracks the performance of invested assets keeping CAO informed of material fluctuations in value.

 

Leadership

  • Attends and provides financial reporting during leadership team meetings as needed.
  • Leverages strengths of the current finance team members, helps to clarify roles and responsibilities and develops and implements training programs to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
  • Provides leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; creates and promotes a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Involved in strategic planning, designing financial policies and procedures, and providing guidance within the General Acceptable Accounting Principles.
  • Performs all other duties assigned by direct supervisor or member of the leadership team.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experienced leader with at least five years of accounting and finance experience, ideally in a complex nonprofit that has multiple programs.
  • Minimum of a BA in accounting or finance with expert understanding of GAAP standards.
  • Expert knowledge of QuickBooks Online. Experience in Bloomerang or similar CRM preferred.
  • Experience in the execution of external audits and necessary reporting to complete annual 990 filing.
  • Experience in presenting and reporting financial information to executive teams and external stakeholders.
  • Technology savvy with advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software
  • Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting.
  • A track record in government, corporate and foundation grants financial management and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board, or other outside partners.
  • Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers.
  • Proactive and strategic thinker with personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to Samaritan’s Feet mission.

Associate Director of Development

General Overview:

The Associate Director of Development creates, implements, monitors, and evaluates a comprehensive fundraising plan of the development team to expand philanthropic support of Samaritan’s Feet. The Associate Director ensures that all development team members identify and pursue all development leads, strengthening relationships with individual, corporate and community stakeholders to support the short and long-term growth of the organization. The Associate Director of Development will work alongside marketing and events leadership to ensure shared goals are met.

 

Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Provide coaching, training, and evaluation of all direct reports.
  • Meet regularly with the Leadership Team, providing timely, accurate reporting of progress against goals to the Chief Operating Officer and Leadership team.
  • Establish a budget for the development department and accountable for meeting planned revenue and expenses.

 

Development:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive, annual Development Funding Plan that ensures the fiscal health of the organization and provides future financial resources for growth and expansion, including, but not limited to, individual and corporate major giving, program sponsorship, annual appeals, events, and grants.
  • Prospect, identify, and cultivate new partners capable of funding programs at the $25,000+ level.
  • Responsible for the revenue growth and supporter retention rate of key initiatives including, but not limited to, One City and Sole Society.
  • Ensure that all development team members maintain a strong pipeline of potential funders.
  • Ensure all development team members provide world-class stewardship.
  • Ensure that all team members maintain constituent information and related activities in Bloomerang CRM.
  • Supervise the Senior Program, collaborating with assigned staff to expand partnerships and support from local, state, and federal government-supported agencies, and corporations that cater to senior services and products.
  • Supervise high-visibility sports initiatives to engage athletes, coaches, and teams in the Samaritan’s Feet mission through fundraising, volunteerism, and ambassador partnerships.
  • Supervise the Engagement Department with emphasis on volunteer experience and recruitment of individual donors through the Sole Society program.
  • Work actively with the Marketing Director to build, execute, and evaluate annual campaigns with clear revenue targets.
  • Partner with the Event team to ensure that events meet revenue goals including sponsorship and day-of-event revenue drivers.
  • Manage development team efforts to raise gift-in-kind contributions by working closely with Chief Operating Officer to coordinate efforts.
  • Coordinate with the Finance Department to assist with any funding reconciliation needed.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the leadership team.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of ten years of related experience in development/sales leadership; experience in the non-profit sector is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of success in development including corporate and individual giving, program sponsorship, grants, and events.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead a staff, as well as strong, collaborative relationships at all levels, drawing on a high degree of emotional intelligence and the ability to foster mutual trust and respect.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and rapidly analyze diverse information from varied sources and the ability to learn, adapt and be innovative as new challenges arise.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively, including developing timelines, setting priorities, and coordinating the work of multiple staff members.
  • Proven experience as a strategic partner, leading projects and building systems within an organization.
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines and work flexibly within a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong project management skills: ability to be initiative-taking, hands on, extremely organized, efficient and to manage multiple projects with great accuracy.
  • Budget management skills and experience.

Internships

Internships with Samaritan’s Feet offer the opportunity to explore leadership within the non-profit sector, help with administrative skills, promote and develop relationships within the surrounding community, develop public speaking skills, gain experience with fundraising, development and donor relations skills, and make a significant contribution to furthering the mission of Samaritan’s Feet.

Most of our season intern programs are a 9 to 12 week commitment, unless otherwise noted in the description. Interns must be in college and have housing, a valid driver’s license and access to a car. Part-time internships are unpaid and full-time will receive a small stipend.

Long Term Volunteer Positions

We have volunteer positions, like Receptionist and Marketing Assistant, open for short-term or long-term assignments. We value your time and thank you for considering serving with us in this way.
